History of the Northern Larimer County Habitat Partnership Program

The Northern Larimer County Habitat Partnership Program (NLCHPP) was created in the summer of 2002. The idea for the formation of this partnership began at a Division of Wildlife Cronic Wasting Disease (CWD) meeting on February 14, 2002. At that meeting landowners from the Livermore area spoke about concerns over the potential impacts of CWD and CWD management on wildlife populations, livestock and lands in the northern half or Larimer County. Although CWD began the concepts for the formation of the NLCHPP, many issues of interest were identified by the local residents involving wildlife management and land use in this region. A partnership between local land owners, the Colorado Division of Wildlife, local land owning organizations, and sportsmen was formed to address these many issues in Northern Larimer County.

Twelve members comprise the NLCHPP committee: three persons representing large land owners, two persons representing small parcel owners, one representing sportsmen, one representing Larimer County Parks and Open Space, One representing The Nature Conservancy, One representing the US Forest Service, one representing the US Natural Resource Conservation Service, and two representing the Colorado Division of Wildlife.
